FARE Announces Investment from Soy Nutrition Institute Global to Help Support Its Mind Meld Research Initiative to Pursue a Cure for Food Allergy

May 28, 2026

by SNI Global Staff

MCLEAN, VA (May 28, 2026) — FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), the leading charity supporting those impacted by food allergy through advocacy, research, and education, today announced a collaborative research investment from Soy Nutrition Institute Global (SNI Global) and U.S. Soy to advance FARE’s Mind Meld research initiative. The Mind Meld initiative and forthcoming research funding mechanism is a proven, collaborative model designed to accelerate the pace of new and innovative treatment options and ultimately a cure for food allergy.

Food allergy is a growing public health emergency—a serious disease of the immune system affecting more than 33 million people in the U.S., or roughly 1 in 10 adults. Food allergy affects individuals differently across allergens, and for every patient and family impacted, the burden is real and often life-altering. FARE’s approach is to advance solutions that improve the lives of all people living with food allergy, while also accelerating research that can lead to prevention, better diagnosis, and ultimately a cure. Continued research across allergens remains critical to reducing barriers to safe nutrition and expanding access to trusted food options.

“For the growing number of patients living with food allergy and those who may develop the disease, the need for progress is urgent,” said Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, CEO of FARE. “The investment from SNI Global will support the use of a collaborative research model that has proven effective in cancer research and is now being applied to transform the future of food allergy. We’re grateful to SNI Global for joining with us to help advance this critical work because food is not the enemy—the disease is.”

SNI Global identifies, develops and funds research to advance the scientific understanding of soy’s impact on human health. While the prevalence of soy allergy is lower than that of other major food allergens, continued research remains important to address barriers that limit access to this high-quality plant protein. Through its investment in FARE’s Mind Meld initiative, SNI Global is supporting a strategic, multidisciplinary approach designed to accelerate progress against the disease of food allergy.

“SNI Global is committed to advancing science that improves human health while also supporting the long-term sustainability of soybean farmers,” said Julie Ohmen, CEO of SNI Global. “Food allergy is a complex and growing disease that demands bold, coordinated action.  FARE’s Mind Meld initiative has the potential to improve the lives of patients while strengthening confidence in the foods and agricultural systems that nourish communities around the world.”

SNI Global’s multi-year commitment reflects an intent to provide ongoing support to this collaborative research, subject to periodic review and alignment with governance processes and broader organizational considerations.
