Soy Nutrition Institute Global took its global presence to a new level by attending and exhibiting at the International Congress of Nutrition (ICN) on December 6-11 in Tokyo, Japan. Referred to by some as the “Olympics of Nutrition,” ICN is a meeting of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) that takes place every four years and attracts thousands of attendees from dozens of countries. Nutrition experts and food policy stakeholders from across the globe gathered to dive into trending topics in global nutrition.
Soy’s role in global nutrition was highlighted by Mark Messina, PhD, MS, SNI Global’s director of nutrition science and research, and Julie Ohmen, SNI Global’s CEO, while they were in Tokyo. In addition to sharing the latest and greatest soy science and a virtual tour of a U.S. soybean farm at the booth, SNI Global participated in other ancillary opportunities. Member and global ingredient company IFF hosted a seminar for more than 100 of its customers at which Messina presented research findings which highlighted soy’s role in human health and nutrition. Additionally, the U.S. Soybean Export Council facilitated a media event with SNI Global about soy for human consumption. These engagements have resulted in coverage including this article in Dream News and this article published by the top two food news outlets in Japan, the Japan Food Journal and the Daily Soybean & Oilseeds.
The 23rd International Congress of Nutrition (ICN) will be held in Paris, France August 24-29, 2025.
